The University of Toronto Greek Student Association (GSA) is proud to announce our upcoming Alumni & Career Night, taking place on March 18 from 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM in the East Common Room at Hart House.
This signature event is designed to celebrate the strength, continuity, and accomplishments of the U of T Greek community by bringing together former GSA members, distinguished alumni, and current students for an evening of mentorship and meaningful connection.
Celebrating Leadership Across Generations
Alumni & Career Night is more than a networking event; it is an opportunity to highlight the journeys of Greek students who have carried the values of community, leadership, and service beyond campus and into their professional lives.
The evening will open with a moderated alumni panel featuring three accomplished members of our community:
Hon. Jim Karygiannis graduated from U of T industrial engineering. He served as a Member of Parliament in the House of Commons of Canada from 1988 to 2011, representing Scarborough—Agincourt, and later as a Toronto City Councillor. Throughout his public life, he became known for his strong advocacy on foreign affairs, human rights, and community issues affecting multicultural Canadians.
Spiros Papathanasakis, a senior business executive and entrepreneur who has founded and scaled several companies, including Don Valley Health and Wellness, eSSENTIAL Accessibility/Level Access with private equity partners KKR and JMI and most recently, Docnote. Over the course of his career, he has built and led organizations through periods of startup, expansion, and transformation. He brings extensive experience in corporate leadership and governance, helping companies grow responsibly while creating long-term value. His work spans healthcare, technology, and digital accessibility, with a focus on innovation and impact
Victoria Bekiaris, a former GSA President, is now a vice principal with the Toronto District School Board at West hill Collegiate Institute. She was recognized in 2023 with a TDSB Excellence Award in Student Achievement and Engagement for her dedication to student success, leadership development, and community-building within education.
Each panelist will reflect on their time at U of T, the role the Greek student community played in shaping their paths, and the lessons they have learned throughout their careers. Students will gain first-hand insight into leadership, resilience, professional growth, and the importance of staying connected to one’s roots.
Mentorship, Networking, and Community
Following the panel discussion, the evening will continue with an open Q&A session and dedicated networking reception. This is a unique opportunity for current students to engage directly with alumni across a broad spectrum of industries including law, politics, education, engineering, medicine, finance, and business.
For alumni, the event offers a chance to reconnect with fellow graduates, strengthen professional networks, and contribute to the continued growth of the GSA community. The intergenerational exchange of ideas and experiences remains one of the most powerful aspects of our association.
Appetizers and light refreshments will be provided as guests mingle in the historic setting of Hart House, a longstanding hub of student life at the University of Toronto.
Continuing the Legacy
The University of Toronto Greek Student Association has long been a space where students cultivate friendships, cultural pride, leadership skills, and lifelong professional connections. Alumni Night stands as a celebration of that enduring legacy, demonstrating how the bonds formed during university continue to inspire achievement and service well beyond graduation.
We warmly invite all former U of T GSA members and alumni, as well as current students, to join us for what promises to be a thoughtful, inspiring, and engaging evening.
