On Tuesday, October 16, the Greek Students Association held their first dance/movie night of the year in Cats Eye- Victoria College. Kalamatiano was taught during the dance portion, and after everyone indulged in pizza and refreshments, the film of the night, “Rembetiko”, was shown. This film is based on a true the true story of the popular singer Marika Ninou’s life, set in the 1920’s and manufactured into a musical drama and sweeps through 40 years. Those who attended the event were extremely enthusiastic towards both the Greek movie with English subtitles, and GSA’s popcorn machine. The GSA aspires to hold another similar event in the near future. Thanks go to all who attended, and for those who didn’t, not to worry! Undoubtedly more members will attend the next event, considering midterms were this week.
