On Tuesday September 11th, the University of Toronto Students’ Union closed down all of St. George Street from College to Harbord to host a first ever students’ street festival. What better opportunity for the GSA to roast a traditional lamb! Arriving at 7:15AM, we set up our charcoal spit and began roasting the 41 pound baby lamb. As the day progressed, and the lamb began to cook, thousands of students poured through the street welcomed by multiple food vendors and a sample of all the clubs U of T has to offer. The biggest spectacle however, was the GSA and our lamb roast. Throughout the day, we signed up 70 new members and welcomed any questions directed to our group, the lamb, and what we do on campus. Special thanks to all of the executives who devoted their entire day to this set-up, the UTSU for allowing us to roast our lamb, Uncle Jimmy Panagiotoulias who helped prepare, cook, and cut up the lamb, to all of our members that came out, and to Kostas Meat Market for generously subsidizing the lamb for us!
Clubs Fair Day 2012
On Wednesday September 5th, the GSA once again set up one of the most welcoming tables at the U.T.S.U. Orientation Clubs Fair Day. Our theme this year was Free Messini Gyro when you sign up to the GSA. We also introduced our brand new, redesigned 2012/2013 GSA T-Shirts, which you also got for Free when signing up with the GSA. With the help of our delicious Free Messini Gyro, stylish new T-Shirts, and our new iPad sign-up process, the GSA signed up a record-breaking 109 members during Clubs Fair Day!! We would like to thank everyone that signed up during clubs fair day, the executives and members that volunteered throughout the day, and Messini Authentic Gyros for graciously donating the Gyro for our event! The success of clubs fair day is only the beginning to the most successful GSA year ahead of us!

The New GSA Logo!
Hi everyone! The GSA is proud to announce it’s new logo that represents our student organization. The Greek Students’ Association at the University of Toronto has grown exponentially over the past few years and has established a new brand of active, successful, and passionate Hellenic Students at the St. George Campus. We are proud to present our new brand that represents a cleaner, professional, and more unique identity for our organization. The new logo, designed by James Nahhas (youoft.ca), kept a similar rendition of the previous logo but added a more professional appearance along with our title written out to better identify who we are.
We hope you like the new logo as it will be the face of our group moving forward. Please send any comments or questions to gsa.stgeorge@utoronto.ca or message us on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/greekstudentsassociation

Project Dimitrios Sissakis
Project Dimitri is a movement to raise money for Dimitrios Sissakis, a young Greek man from Toronto. Family and friends of Dimitri Sissakis are leveraging social media to help him in his battle against cancer. Please show your support! The GSA is taking a strong stance behind Project Dimitri and we encourage everyone to give whatever they can to help Dimitri get better.
Through the students of the GSA at U of T and HSAs of York and Ryerson, we have encouraged all of our members to attend the various fundraising events for Project Dimitri. To date, youth and students have been standing by Dimitri Sissakis as strongly as possible. On Friday June 7th 2012 at the SEF Toronto Formal (End of Year GSA Banquet) we hosted a raffle where all proceeds went to Dimitros Sissakis. Through the raffle and a generous donation from Spirale Banquet Hall, we helped raise $1100.
We encourage university students, GSA members, alumni, friends, community partners, professors, and business owners to continue to supprot Dimitrios Sissakis and help him battle against cancer.

Queen’s Jubilee Award at St. Nicholas Greek Festival
On this Friday June 15th 2012 at the St. Nicholas Greek Festival (3840 Finch Ave E) the GSA will be stationed at their own table throughout the weekend taking part in all of our festivities. Most importantly, however, The Minister of Citizenship and Culture, Charles Sousa will be awarding Mr. Ted Maziaris with the Queen’s Jubilee Award. This is one of the most prestigious awards in Canada and Mr. Manziaris deserves it for his outstanding commitment to the Greek Students of Canada. In fact, at the NHSA Convention (shown in photo), Mr. Ted Manziaris made a $50,000 pledge to the GSA to help bring back and pay for the Modern Hellenic Studies course at the University of Toronto. Our Consul General of Greece in Toronto, the Hon. Dimitris Azemopoulos along with the GSA Executive would like to see as many students and GSA members attend the presentation of the Queen’s Jubilee award to Mr. Manziaris this Friday.
